FE2 – Flora Europaea 2nd ed.
After finishing the last Volume of Flora Europaea in 1980, some 20 years after starting the FE project especially Volume 1 was already out of date. As a consequence of ongoing research new taxa have been described, others relegated to synonymy and taxonomy and nomenclature partly changed. Therefore the FE Committee decided to continue work by revising volume 1 which was finally published in 1993. Major changes compared to the first edition of volume 1 are the inclusion of 350 extra taxa, synonyms now cited in the text, critically edited geographical distribution and extensively reworked keys and description down to subspecies level. Plans for revising volumes 2–5 up to now came to nothing.
