Annotation: Cupressus sempervirens is introduced on the Ionian Islands (as in whole Greece, with indigenous populations only on Crete), but occurs commonly subspontaneous and often in large stands on most islands. The “wild” morphotype (var. horizontalis) is rather common (often mixed with plants of var. sempervirens in various proportions). It may penetrate into seminatural and natural vegetation and occupies burned areas, but is never an integral element of indigenous vegetation units. [2016-12-05]
