Cirsium creticum subsp. triumfettii
Annotation: Documented collections from Corfu (plants from at least 3 different populations) exhibit capitula with the outer and middle phyllaries pointed into rigid spines, those of the latter with a flattened base, 4–5 mm long and often patent to slightly reflexed. Such plants agree with corresponding ones of Sicily (also known as C. siculum), Calabria as well as Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania, but differ from those of C. creticum subsp. creticum as are present on the southern Ionian Islands. Further studies are needed to evaluate the identity of those records from Corfu reported simply under the species name.
