Annotation: The occurrence of Isatis tinctoria on Corfu is known since nearly 2 centuries (Pieri 1824: 48, as I. lusitanica; Georgiou 1988: 92) and restricted to a small area in the NE of the island where it is found in mainly ruderal habitats. It remains unclear if this dye plant actually is indigenous on the island. Strangely enough, in »Flora Hellenica« these populations are assigned to I. tomentella (Tan in Strid & Tan 2002: 128, 417, no. 942), even though the corresponding specimens without doubt belong to I. tinctoria (fruit size and indument) and Kit Tan herself determined material collected by us as subsp. tinctoria. This assignment to I. tomentella might be due to a mistake, unfortunately repeated in »Vascular Plants of Greece« (Dimopoulos & al. 2013: 73). [2016-01-17]
