Annotation: Micromeria browiczii is a well defined species endemic to this island (see Valli 2013: 160–183, 226–228). Known to us since 1991 from several localities as an undescribed species, it was separated taxonomically only in 2001 (based on plants collected »between Agalas and the promontory of Kentinaria«: Tan & Zieliński 2001: 31). Though classified as »Critical endangered« (Valli 2013: 10, 183) according to IUCN criteria, it is not too rare in western as well as northern Zakynthos, and may earlier have been confused as hairy variant of M. juliana which looks superficially similar.
