Annotation: Carlina corymbosa subsp. graeca replaces the more northern subsp. corymbosa on the southern Balkan Peninsula and in the Aegean region (see Meusel & Kästner 1994: 196, maps 62a and b, as C. graeca and C. corymbosa). Populations are known from Corfu (as well as along the Dalmatian coast) that partly approach the nominate race, and were classified by Meusel & Kästner under C. corymbosa var. graeciformis (loc. cit.: 194). Such plants, however, are connected ± continuously with others that represent typical subsp. graeca, and can't be separated taxonomically from the latter at least on Corfu. [2016-05-12]
