Annotation: According to »Vascular Plants of Greece« (Dimopoulos & al. 2013: 270) and the »Atlas of the Aegean Flora« (Strid 2016a: 347) morphological differences between members of the Crocus nivalis alliance (excl. C. sieberi s.str. from Crete) are to vague to be distinguished taxonomically. They merge into each other also geographically on the Greek mainland. Therefore, contrary to the latest monograph on the genus (Rukšāns 2017: 480), we prefer inclusion of Crocus sublimis (syn. C. atticus subsp. sublimis, C. sieberi subsp. sublimis) into a broader circumscribed Crocus nivalis (s.lat.). The occurence on Corfu is doubtful, and confirmation is needed whether »Crocus vernus« observed on the »colli di Cazjaros« (Mazziari 1834a: 454) might belong here. [2024-11-10]
