Annotation: On the Ionian Islands the polymorphic Helianthemum nummularium is represented mainly by populations with leaves densely tomentose beneath by short stellate hairs (at least when young), obviously included in subsp. nummularium in »Vascular Plants of Greece« (Dimopoulos & al. 2013: 85), but approaching though not identical with »typical« subsp. tomentosum (cf. Gutermann & al. 2014: 176). It agrees largely with »H. vulgare var. graecum« of Halácsy 1900: 134. Another morphotype was observed to occur on Corfu as well as on Lefkada that in the past had been classified as »H. vulgare var. litorale« (Halácsy, loc. cit.) or »H. hirsutum f. litorale« (Janchen 1909). It corresponds with subsp. obscurum as presently defined in most characters (particularly in the absence of short stellate hairs on the leaves) but differs from Central European populations by the leaf surface ± glabrescent (or even glabrous except margin and nerves), by the inner sepals glabrous in the central part, and with a tendency to larger flowers. — H. nummularium was erroneously reported from Ithaka (Lindhof 1996: 97) as is evident from the vouchers (in WU!) which belong to Fumana arabica.
