Annotation: Papaver dubium, conceived as an aggregate species, consists of several tetraploid and hexaploid taxa not always easy to distinguish (cf. Kadereit in Strid & Tan 2002: 88–90). The record from Cephalonia (Bornmüller 1928b: 171, as P. dubium var. lecoquii; repeated as P. lecoquii by Phitos & Damboldt 1985: 61) was accepted in »Flora Hellenica« under subsp. lecoqii (Strid & Tan 2002: 89; specifically on map 878) but should be confirmed as Bornmüller had reported the capsule size »8 × 12 mm« for his collection what does not fit with any taxon of the dubium affinity. Similarly the record from NW Corfu (Chilton & Allen 1996: 12, as P. dubium) needs taxonomic verification in addition to more detailed geographical localisation. Our own record from Lefkada is based on plants in a late fruiting stage that does not allow a more precise determination. [2018-02-21]
