Annotation: Asplenium ceterach is known to occur with three cytotypes in the Mediterranean basin, diploids (subsp. bivalens), tetraploids (subsp. ceterach) and hexaploids (subsp. mediterraneum). All three cytotypes are also known from the Ionian Islands (Trewick & al. 2002, Pinter & al. 2002). The diploid subsp. bivalens was described based on material from Cephalonia (as Ceterach officinarum subsp. bivalens; see Meyer 1964). [2019-09-23]
