Annotation: The occurrence of Dryopteris filix-mas (or »Nephrodium filix-mas«) on the Ionian Islands is not doubted in the »Vascular Plants of Greece« checklist (Dimopoulos & al. 2013: 38). However, in our experience the only species of this genus found on the islands is D. pallida. Hence, all records of Dryopteris species for the region are here assigned to D. pallida. Misidentifications were published until recently, e.g. for Lefkada (Hofmann 1968: 250) or Corfu, where the fern was even determined as D. carthusiana (Shimwell 1980: 79)! [2016-01-17]
