Annotation: Erysimum corinthium, a plant of coastal cliffs in S Greece, is supposed to be ancestral to E. cheiri, the latter not known to occur as an autochthonous plant (though cultivated for centuries, and naturalized). Accordingly, differentiation between the two taxa is difficult and controversial (see Snogerup 1967a, Snogerup 1967b and »Flora Hellenica«: Polatschek & Snogerup in Strid & Tan 2002: 139 as well as Polatschek 1994 who treats the wild taxa as varieties within an enlarged E. cheiri).
