Annotation: Limonium phitosianum, another endemic species of the Ionian Islands, was described based on material collected on Zakynthos (»ad promontorium Skinari«) and was found to be diploid (2n = 18; Artelari 1984b: 430). In the northern part of Zakynthos intermediates with L. cephalonicum were observed (Artelari 1984c: 28). According to Valli & al. 2024 the record from Stamfani islet (Strofades) in Brullo & Erben 2016 is based on an incomplete specimen (»Messenien, Insel Stamfani, 14 September 1980, Pieper s.n. (Herb. Greuter)«), and its occurrence there is considered doubtful. All subsequently collected Limonium specimens from Strofades belong to L. virgatum, and therefore L. phitosianum is still considered endemic to Zakynthos (Valli & al. 2024). [2024-11-21]
