Annotation: The taxonomically isolated species Thymus holosericeus is endemic to the Ionian Islands. Plants from Lefkada had initially caused the name Th. striatus var. leucadicus (Reichenbach 1858: 36) but based on plants from Cephalonia (Mt. Ainos) it was then described as species (Čelakovský 1883: 167). Its chromosome number was determined as 2n = 28, counted on material from the latter island (Damboldt 1976: 279, Samaropoulou & al. 2013b: 289). [2016-12-01]
